In collaboration with Women’s Refuge Tauranga and Shakti Ethnic Women’s Refuge

As part of International Women’s Day, the Third Culture Film Festival is proud to partner with Women’s Refuge Tauranga and Shakti Ethnic Women’s Refuge for a special screening of Voices of Venus — a powerful curated film block celebrating the resilience, strength, and complexity of women’s experiences across cultures.

Taking place on March 8th, 6:00–8:00pm at Village Community Cinema - Tauranga,

the evening will feature a selection of international short films exploring womanhood in its many forms — stories of courage, identity, injustice, survival, love, and transformation. These films shine a light on both the challenges women face and the extraordinary strength they embody.

The event will also include a panel discussion with community voices and advocates, followed by an open mic segment, creating space for reflection, conversation, and shared storytelling within our own Tauranga community.

This screening is more than a film event. It is a moment of solidarity. A space to listen. A space to honour stories that are too often unheard. And a reminder of the importance of safe communities and cultural understanding — values at the heart of Women’s Refuge and Shakti’s work.

Join us as we celebrate International Women’s Day through the power of cinema —

connecting global stories to our local community.
